we respectfully offer you this old antique mourning brooch, bearing the image of a little baby boy child, from the late 1800s. He looks quite unhappy in the picture, which is sepai toned, and most likely was already ill. Back in those days, t were no antibiotics to wards off pneumonia and infections, so just staying alive until adulthood was a challenge. The brooch is made of brass, with a twisted rope border. The picture is protected by either plastic or glass. It measures 7/8" across, not including the hinged pin back and old 'c' clasp which protrude slightly beyond the edges of the brooch. It weighs 3.3 grams, and is damage free. These items were made upon the passing of one's beloveds and worn at the funeral services and for a period of mourning tafter. Thank you for your interest!
