Patricia Mary Dawson, of Grange Road, Rawtenstall, passed away at Blackburn Hospital on September 19, aged 73 years.

Patricia was a registered Nurse in the NHS for 30 years, she retired from The Hub at Rawtenstall in 2016. Earlier in her life she was a hairdresser.

She enjoyed knitting, jigsaws, gardening, travelling. She also enjoyed going to Wimbledon to watch tennis every year and also watching cricket on TV.

Widow of David Dawson, Patricia leaves behind her daughter Karen and husband Steve, son John and wife Paula, grandson Harry and brother Alan Burrows.

A funeral service will be held on October 12 at Burnley Crematorium at 1.45pm, conducted by celebrant Corinne Firth-Surkitt.

Harry Dickinson, of Accrington, formerly Northfield Road, Rising Bridge, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, September 24, aged 87.

Harry was a much loved husband of the late Margaret Dickinson (nee Heaton), and mother to Vanessa, Dilys and Vinny, mother-in-law to Grahame, Steven and Cheryl, brother to Jim and Grace, and the late Jean and Bill. He leaves many treasured grand-children, nieces and nephews.

Harry was born in Accrington and married Margaret at Wesley Methodist Church, Haslingden in 1958.

Harry spent most of his working life as an overlooker in many mills around the valley, mainly Langholme Shed in Rawtenstall with a two year break for National Service in the Royal Army Medical Cops in 1964, he ended his working life at Anglo Felts in Whitworth.

Harry & Margaret fostered many children in their time together and ran a youth club at Rising Bridge for several years.

Harry’s passion was pool, darts and dominoes, playing for many pub teams throughout his adult life. Most recently he enjoyed a chat and a game of pool in the Grey Horse, Accrington.

A celebration of Harry’s life will take place at Accrington Crematorium on Monday, October 9 at 11.40am.

David Ashworth of Burnley Road, Loveclough passed away at Blackburn General Hospital on September 26, aged 70 years.

David was a joiner by trade and retired from Tudor Rose.

He enjoyed photography, birds and wildlife, music and playing the guitar.

Partner to the late Vanessa Heyslop and brother to the late Pauline. David leaves behind his children Mark, Kathryn and Sean Ashworth, mum Olive, brother-in-law Michael, niece Jemma and nephew Kieran.

A funeral will be held on October 10 at St James the Less Church, Burnley Road, Rawtenstall, Rossendale, BB4 8HH, conducted by Father Stamp at 2pm.

This will then be followed by a cremation at Burnley Crematorium at 3.15pm.

Family flowers only, donations welcome to Rossendale Hospice.
