U.S. 50 reopens after fatal crash

One person died in a crash Thursday on U.S. 50 near Third Street in Lee's Summit.
Police said it appears the driver lost of the tractor-trailer about 11:30 a.m., went off the highway and crashed into a bridge pillar.
The driver was killed.
Police said the bridge pillar may have been damaged by the accident.
An engineer was called to the scene to inspect the bridge.
The highway was closed for a large part of the day. Just after 3:30 p.m., officials said all lanes were back open.
The name of the driver who died has not been released.
