Reliable and Durable Reel

Designed for a long, no-maintenance life, the reel is powered by an ingeniously simple internal spring, eliminating difficult hand winding or the complex moving parts of a motor. A fully enclosed four-roller guide collar smoothly guides hose travel on and off the reel. Once you pull out the desired length, an 8-position ratchet gear locks hose in place so there is no backward tension while you work. When you are done, a simple tug on the hose releases the lock, allowing the reel to automatically rewind it neatly into storage.

Tough Rubber Hose

Delivering a maximum working pressure of 300 PSI, the abrasion-resistant rubber air hose stays flexible and easy to work with, even in freezing temperatures. To ensure tight, leak-free connections, only solid brass fittings are used on the hose and reel.

Easy Installation

Reel can be mounted to ceiling, wall, floor, or workbench — whatever is most convenient. Simple and easy, a basic installation needs only four bolts and washers*. Guide Arm: Move guide arm to one of five different positions for best hose feed angle.
Hose Stopper: Move stopper to set length of hose "tail" that hangs outside reel.

Sturdy reel only slightly different than comparable models.

Recently purchased so the review reflects the new product rather than reliability. The reel is strong and heavy, the mechanism has a crisp click when it locks and it retracts smoothly. It also comes with a spare gaskets for the rotating swivel joint. I personally like the swivel design better than other models.

I purchased this reel because the reel AND the Goodyear hose was cheaper than the equivalent model. Replacement of the hose is simple and with the smaller walled Goodyear hose (3/8 ID, 12674 red, 46505 yellow) there is ample room for additional hose, i am guessing 25 feet, but you would have to re-calibrate the spring by pulling it out a bit more when changing. The TEKTON hose this comes with is relatively thick and the rubber feels tacky which I personally do not prefer.

To anyone looking at the various reels and trying to decide between this and the Goodyear branded reel (they are both manufactured by TEKTON) the "full frame" design of the Goodyear (46731) is slightly better as my unit leans slightly away from the suspension arm. TEKTON has a similar "full frame" design under their brand name (46875) but it is currently more expensive than the Goodyear branded model. I have no reason to think this will ever be an issue and no other reviews mention it.

Oh and it does not come with mounting hardware, TEKTON has a mounting diagram on its website and it recommends a 3/8 inch screw/lag screw.

This hose reel is great. It is made from heavy duty materials and has substantial weight; I would guess it weighs about 30 lbs. The hose seems of good quality, but only time will tell if it degrades. It comes with an extra set of seals for the main bearing (for sealing the air inside the stationary inlet tube and the outlet reel). It also came with a small roll of teflon to attach fittings to the hose ends. It did not come with screws/bolts/anchors to attach the reel to a wall or ceiling. Would definitely buy again

Very nice for the money

Really loved it and had zero issues for a while, had it about 18 months, but about two days ago I cranked on the compressor and heard a lot of air coming from the hose towards the end. The hose had cracked all apart and upon further inspection it went about 14 inches. I cut it back past the brittle part and used a repair end to make the hose usable again. It's really no huge biggie, I'm sure it'll work just fine and I don't think I've ever had it pulled all the way out to the hoses limit anyways, but yes it still sucks. I really love the reel, you can tell it's really solidly made. I was going to spend a whole heck of a lot more money on a different reel/hose set up but I went with this and glad I did. I think what maybe cracked the hose was being in a Michigan garage through the hot and cold seasons, not really sure but I'll keep closer watch on the hose in the future.

Heavy duty but hose is inferior

I have been using this hose and reel for seven months now. It is used in my repair shop five days per week. I don't reel it in and out much: I pick it up, blow air and hang it back up.

As other reviews warned me, I noticed when I bought it that the hose looked old and dried out, as it had lots of little cracks in the rubber. Because of leaks, I have had to cut the hose twice now to eliminate the leaking cracks at the end of the hose where the attachments fit. I am anticipating having to replace the entire hose at some point in the near future. I've been using air compressors for decades and have not once had this problem, so I suspect that the product is fitted with a low quality rubber hose.

I saved money on this product, but will likely break even after replacing the hose. Caveat emtor!

Had this for just under a year. Running it off of a 135 PSI air compressor, minimal, light use on weekends, no adverse weather or other conditions. Starting about 2 weeks ago, when using it I would here these very loud POPs. Looking at the hose closely, there's holes that are appearing randomly. The hose has just started puncturing itself at under half the recommended PSI!
The reel is great, I'm going to hate to have to replace this after only a year as it cleaned my shop up significantly having the hose on a reel.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

We bought this product for our car rental business and it came right on schedule, all the way to Hawaii!
It was installed outside and we immediately started using it for automotive repairs.That was at the end of December (less than three months ago).
Yesterday the crimped fitting that connects the hose to the chuck developed a leak and upon inspection I realized that the entire portion of the air hose that had been exposed to the elements had already lost all it's plasticizer and had numerous hairline cracks!
One of these hairline cracks is where the leak developed and now the hose has to be cut and a hose barb fitting installed for replacement of the crimped fitting , in reality the ENTIRE hose should be replaced because its integrity is suspect from one end to the hose to the other!
Do yourself a favor , spend the money and get one made in America with the proper amount of plasticizer in it so it can last at (least?) a year???
Save your money and go elsewhere for this type of equipment!
