33202 (D6587) "METEOR" HISTORICAL NOTES.

33202 was built with narrow body to run on the Hastings to Tunbridge Wells route by Birmingham Railway Carriage & Wagon Company in February 1962 and started its working life numbered as D6587 in BR green with light grey roof and off white window surrounds with a 3 inch wide off white stripe along the middle of the body sides which extended round the cab fronts.

1962 yellow warning panels were added to the BR Green livery.

1968 D6587 was repainted in allover BR blue with full yellow ends.

1972 D6587 was renumbered to the TOPS scheme recieving number 33202

1982 (FEB 5) 33202 worked 17:20 passenger service from London Bridge to Uckfield.

1994 (APR) 33202 + 33204 hauled a Crewe - Weymouth special charter train from Bristol Temple Meads to the Weymouth Quay tramway.

1994 (DEC) 33202 was carrying departmental civil engineering "Dutch" livery. (Departmental grey livery with yellow stripe along upper body sides)

1996 33202 was taken over by EWS. Carried "BURMAH STAR" nameplate.

1997 (FEB) 33202 worked Ravenglass & Eskdale special with 31405.

1998 (JAN 15) 33202 + 33051 worked 6Z23 Fawley - Washwood Heath, returning 01:30 Jan 16th.

1998 (JAN 19) 33202 + 33051 worked 7V81 Three Bridges - Eastleigh.

1998 (FEB 6) 33202 + 33025 worked Cliffe - Purley stone train.

1998 (FEB 20) 33202 + 33025 worked Cliffe - Purley stone train.

1998 (DEC) 33202 withdrawn and stored by EWS at Wigan RDC.

1999 (DEC) 33202 moved to Old Oak Common TMD.

2000 (AUG 6) 33202 was on display at Old Oak Common in engineers "Dutch" livery.

2001 (DEC 12) 33202 purchased by Harry Needle Railway Company (HNRC) from EWS

2002 (JAN 24) 33202 moved from Eastleigh to Southampton Maritime.

2002 (JAN 25) 33202 moved by road from Southamton Maritime to Toddington for use on the Gloucestershire - Warwickshire Railway.

2002 (JUL 17) 33202 left Gloucestershire - Warwickshire Railway, moved by road from Toddington to Derby (Fragonset Works).

2002 (AUG) 33202 now carries Fragonset livery, allover black with red stripe and full width yellow warning panel from below the cab windows. (as seen in above photos taken in May 2003)

2002 (NOV 24) 33202 operated by Fragonset, Now named "METEOR", on lease to South West Trains for crew training, Empty Coaching Stock (ECS) workings and used to move new Desiro 450xxx sets to/from Bournemouth depot for testing between Wareham - Weymouth.

2003 (DEC) 33202 used to move new Desiro 450xxx sets to/from Bournemouth depot for testing between Wareham - Weymouth and to Woking for high speed Desiro testing under total possession of the route.

2003 (MAR 29) 33202 + 33103 + 73109 worked Desiro 450007 from Bournemouth depot to Woking for overnight high speed tests between Woking and Winchfield. 73109 "Battle of Britain 50th Anniversary" was returned to Woking as part of this train after assisting the 18:03 Waterloo-Poole service to it's destination on March 28th.

2003 (MAR 31) 33202 stabled at Woking on standby.

2003 (APR 7) 33202 returned to Bournemouth depot.

2003 (MAY) 33202 laid up with shifted wheel tyres.

2003 (JUNE) 33202 moved to Derby Fragonset Works for repairs to damaged wheelsets.
